West Virginia lawmakers are considering legislation that would expand the types of cancers acceptable as occupational diseases by rebuttable presumption for firefighters.
H.B. 2197, introduced Wednesday, would expand the state’s presumption for covered firefighters who develop bladder cancer, mesothelioma or testicular cancer.
The bill would extend by one year the existing expiration date on the rebuttable presumption to July 1, 2028, unless extended again by the Legislature.
