Attorneys representing injured workers in New Mexico will receive more compensation in June after the governor signed a bill increasing fees by more than 33%.
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday signed H.B. 66, which will increase the cap on attorneys fees to $30,000 from $22,500 when it takes effect June 20.
The cap will increase to $32,000 in 2027 and to $34,000 in 2029.
The bill also increases the amount employers are required to advance for discovery to $3,500 from $3,000.
