The medical professional liability market remains challenging for buyers with rates rising by double-digits in the first half of 2025, according to a report released Thursday by Marsh.
Hospitals remain the toughest sector, with 45% of Marsh clients seeing increases of between 10% and 25% and 10% seeing rate hikes of 25% to 50%, the brokerage said.
New insurers have entered the market, including Tokio Marine HCC, but the new capacity is likely insufficient to offset insurers that have exited the market and lower prices, Marsh said.
In other lines, health care organizations have seen some rate decreases; for example, directors and officers liability rates were down 2% and property rates fell 9% in the first half, Marsh said.
