Pinnacol names new senior medical director

Colorado workers comp insurer Pinnacol Assurance said Wednesday it named Dr. Gabriel Lockhart its new senior medical director.

Dr. Lockhart was most recently medical director of the intensive care unit and quality improvement chairman at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver. He has been on the board of Denver’s Uptown Community Health Center “and advised the governor of Colorado on pandemic strategies and vaccine equity,” Pinnacol said.

He is a board-certified pulmonary and critical care physician with a master’s in business administration.

He replaces Dr. Tom Denberg, who now works at Optum as senior medical director in value-based care.
