Ohio public employers to see 10% rate cut

The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation said rates for the state’s public employers will fall by 10% in 2022.

The reduction, made possible by declining injury claims and relatively low medical inflation, will save public employers nearly $17 million, the agency said.

The reduction marks the 13th rate cut for public employers in Ohio since 2009. There have also been 11 rate reductions since 2008 for private employers.

The reduction represents a statewide average. The actual premium change for an individual public entity will differ based on factors including employer classification, payroll, recent claims history and participation in various BWC programs.
