Aspen promotes John Welch to group chief underwriting officer

Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd. said Thursday it promoted John Welch to group chief underwriting officer, effective Aug. 1.

Mr. Welch will report to Christian Dunleavy, group president and CEO of Aspen Bermuda Ltd, the parent company said. He will be in charge of developing and executing groupwide underwriting strategy for Aspen, a Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer.

Mr. Welch has over 30 years of experience, including at Axa XL and XL Caitlin Group. He joined Aspen in June 2023 as chief underwriting officer, reinsurance.

Aspen Insurance Holdings has units in Bermuda, the U.S. and the U.K. and branch operations in Canada, Singapore and Switzerland.
