Axa XL hires former AIG exec as specialty insurance CUO

Axa XL, a unit of Axa SA, said Monday it has named Sylvain Bouteillé chief underwriting officer for specialty Americas.

Mr. Bouteillé previously was head of trade credit for the Americas at American International Group Inc. Before joining AIG, he spent 23 years at Swiss Reinsurance Co.

At Axa XL, he will oversee aviation, ocean marine, political risk, trade credit and commercial bonds, war, terrorism and political violence, fine art and specie, and structured risk solutions, the insurer said.

Mr. Bouteillé, who is based in New York, will report to Donna Nadeau, head of large commercial, Americas.
