MGA Pivix launches brokerage division

Pivix Specialty Insurance Services, a managing general agency, announced Tuesday it launched a brokerage division, led by insurance industry veteran Michael Gramm.

Mr. Gramm was appointed senior vice president and chief underwriting officer – brokerage at the Scottsdale, Arizona-based MGA.

The platform, which will focus on large and complex casualty risks, expects to announce its first program shortly, Mr. Gramm said in a statement.

Mr. Gramm, based in Dallas, previously was senior vice president of Futuristic Underwriters. He has also held various casualty roles at Hallmark, Navigators and XL Catlin, now part of Axa XL.

Pivix, backed by Ambac Financial Group, focuses on the excess and surplus lines market distributed through wholesale channels. The MGA launched last year and is led by former Scottsdale Insurance President Mike Miller as CEO and president.
