Brown & Brown adds international to Hearn’s duties

Brown & Brown announced Wednesday that Chief Operating Officer Steve Hearn will lead its operations outside of North America across its retail and specialty divisions.

Barrett Brown, head of retail, and Steve Boyd, head of specialty, will guide the business with Mr. Hearn, a Brown & Brown spokeswoman said.

London-based Mr. Hearn, a veteran insurance brokerage executive, joined Brown & Brown last year and was named COO in February.

His previous roles include CEO of brokerage Ed and deputy CEO and president of Willis Towers Watson.

The appointment follows Brown & Brown’s August acquisition of Accession Risk Management, which added $1.7 billion in annual revenue.
