Axa XL names Smyth global casualty CUO

Axa XL said Friday it named Donnacha Smyth global chief underwriting officer, casualty, effective Nov. 3, replacing Carla Greaves, who joined another insurer last month.

Mr. Smyth, who will move to Ireland from Bermuda next year, most recently was CUO, casualty, Americas.

He joined Axa XL from Marsh in 2007, spent two years at Aspen Insurance and returned to Axa XL in 2018 as president of excess casualty.

Ms. Greaves joined Bermuda-based energy insurer and reinsurer Everen Specialty in August as CUO.
