Alera buys Massachusetts agency

Alera Group said Tuesday it acquired Kaplansky Insurance Agency Inc., based in Needham, Massachusetts, expanding its property/casualty footprint in the Northeast.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1974, Kaplansky places commercial and personal lines coverage and has more than 100 agents. It completed 53 acquisitions and expanded to 18 locations in the last 50 years, according to an Alera statement.

Kaplansky reported brokerage revenue of $20.2 million in 2023, according to the latest Business Insurance data.
