Verisk Maplecroft, the global risks unit of Verisk Inc., said Wednesday it is releasing a model to help quantify the financial impacts of strikes, riots and civil commotion in the United States.
It is available through Verisk’s Extreme Events Solutions’ Touchstone platform.
The Verisk strikes, riots and civil commotion model for the U.S. is a probabilistic model with a 500,000-year stochastic catalog, Verisk said in a statement.
It predicts the severity of an event by evaluating the key drivers of risk, including social and economic trends, political factors and historical protest patterns.
The model is designed to help insurers and reinsurers estimate potential insured losses from SRCC events and quantify the potential financial impact of risk for individual locations and at the enterprise level.
It can also help assess tail risk through the catalog of stochastic events and address risk management and regulatory requirements by stress testing disaster scenarios, Verisk said.
