QBE hires former Beazley exec as commercial insurance president

QBE North America, part of QBE Insurance Group Ltd., Thursday named former Beazley PLC executive Matt Westhoff as president of its commercial insurance business, effective Nov. 11, 2024.

He succeeds Mike Foley, who served as QBE North America’s president of commercial insurance since March 2022, and has transitioned to chief underwriting officer for North America, QBE North America said in a statement.

Mr. Westhoff, based in New York, will be responsible for leading the commercial insurance portfolio comprised of workers compensation and property programs, commercial construction, and specialty casualty lines.

One “immediate focus” will be to build a new excess and surplus property business to complement QBE North America’s growing specialty casualty portfolio, QBE North America CEO Julie Wood said in the statement.

Mr. Westhoff was most recently head of North America commercial property at Beazley.
