AIG names Schaper chief risk officer

American International Group Inc. Tuesday named Christopher Schaper chief risk officer, making permanent a role he had held on an interim basis since September.

Mr. Schaper will retain his current role of global chief underwriting officer until a replacement is named, the insurer said in a statement.

As CRO, Mr. Schaper will oversee AIG’s enterprise risk management organization and its risk management strategy, policies and practices, AIG said. He will continue to report to Peter Zaffino, the insurer’s chairman and CEO.

Mr. Schaper joined AIG from Marsh LLC, where he managed the broker’s managing general agent business, in 2019. He was named global chief underwriting officer of AIG last year.
