AGCS names AIG’s Lillelund as next CEO

Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE on Monday named Thomas Lillelund, currently American International Group Inc.’s CEO of Europe, Middle East and Africa, as its next CEO, effective early next year.

Mr. Lillelund, who will also lead Allianz Commercial, will take over from interim CEO Chris Townsend, a board member at Allianz SE, who replaced former CEO Petros Papanikolaou. Mr. Papanikolaou has been appointed executive director of group strategy at Allianz SE.

Prior to his current role at AIG, Mr. Lillelund worked in various global leadership positions in Europe, the United Kingdom, Singapore, South Africa, Hong Kong and the U.S. at Aspen Re, General Reinsurance Corp. and Swiss Re Ltd.
