Bermuda veteran Scope to head Acrisure unit

Acrisure LLC has established a wholesale insurance broking operation in Bermuda, headed by Bermuda market veteran Paul Scope.

The wholesale unit will begin by placing professional liability, directors and officers liability, employment practices liability, cyber liability, and wage and hour insurance products, and will later expand to include other property/casualty lines, Acrisure said in a statement.

Mr. Scope will be CEO of the unit and report to Jason Howard, president of Acrisure International and chairman of Acrisure Re.

Before joining Acrisure, Mr. Scope was chairman of Ardonagh Specialty (Bermuda) Ltd. He has worked on the island for more than 40 years, including holding executive positions at units of Willis Towers Watson PLC and Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC, and heading brokerage Park International, which was bought by JLT in 2007.

He was also chair of the Bermuda Development Agency from 2018 through 2020.
