Starwind unveils political violence and terrorism program

New York-based Starwind Specialty Insurance Services LLC announced Tuesday the launch of its political violence and terrorism program to provide coverage for riots, strikes and terrorism as well as active assailant and workplace violence.

The program, which provides up to $25 million in coverage for companies in the U.S. and Canada, is led by North Carolina-based Chris Kirby, who recently joined Starwind from managing general agent the Optio Group.

Coverage includes losses for business interruption, physical damage and third-party liability and can be extended for cleanup costs, crisis management response, denial of access, event cancellation, fines and penalties, looting and loss of attraction. Standard exclusions are for biological, cyber, nuclear, pandemic excess of loss and proportional treaties, broker facilities and pooling arrangements.

Companies outside of North America and western Europe can obtain policies that provide up to $50 million in coverage.
