Founded in 2019, Scalapay has more than 11m users. In 2022, it became Italy’s first unicorn after a series B funding round brought in $497 in capital.
,According to a statement from CEO Simone Mancini, the €70m from the EIB will allow Scalapay to “accelerate growth, broaden our product range and better support the development of markets where we operate”.
,EIB vice-president Gelsomina Vigliotti added that the investment would also “strengthen the European digital payment ecosystem” by “fostering innovation and competitiveness”.
