CFTC awarding $18M to whistleblower

The federal Commodity Futures Trading Commission said Thursday it is awarding more than $18 million to a whistleblower who provided detailed information and assistance in a CFTC enforcement action and in a related action by another agency.

The CFTC whistleblower program, which was created under the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2014, has granted awards of about $365 million, the agency said in its statement.

The Commodity Exchange Act provides whistleblowers with confidentiality protections.
