Liberty Mutual names former CNA exec to global risk post

Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. said Monday that former CNA Financial Corp. executive Kevin Smith has been named president of Global Risk Solutions, North America.

He succeeds Tracy Ryan, who left the position in June.

Reporting to GRS President Neeti Bhalla Johnson, Mr. Smith will head the unit’s commercial and specialty businesses in the U.S., Canada and Bermuda, Liberty Mutual said in a statement.

Mr. Smith was most recently president and chief operating officer of CNA’s specialty business.

His hiring marks Ms. Bhalla Johnson’s fourth GRS leadership appointment since she became president of the unit in June 2021. Earlier this year, she appointed Matthew Moore as GRS president of underwriting, Susanne Figueredo Cook as GRS chief operating officer and Phil Hobbs as Liberty Specialty Markets president.
