Relation buys Massachusetts agency

Relation Insurance Inc. said Wednesday it has acquired Garrity Insurance, a commercial and personal lines agency based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Garrity has about 20 employees, according to its website, and has offices in Dedham, Marblehead, Salem and Belmont, Massachusetts, in addition to its Cambridge headquarters.

Bill Garrity, president, will continue running daily operations as part of Relation, the Walnut Creek, California-based brokerage said in a statement.

Relation is the 36th largest broker of U.S business according to the most recent Business Insurance rankings.
