Jeffrey Jones has joined Mercury Insurance, a property and casualty insurer, as Vice President & Chief Reinsurance Officer, a newly created role, following a 30-year tenure as a reinsurance broker at Aon.
The executive’s arrival comes at a time of significant strategic evolution from Mercury, particularly concerning its expanding portfolio and its commitment to addressing the challenges for a changing climate.
Jones commented: “I’m especially excited by what this new role signals for the continued evolution of Mercury’s business strategy. With an expanding property portfolio, Mercury has already made significant investments in property analytics, including climate science and catastrophe modelling.”
In his new role, Jones will be responsible for developing efficient capital solutions, with a particular focus on reinsurance, to support the company’s growth.
He emphasized: “Working with the product and analytics teams to develop the most efficient capital solutions, especially reinsurance, for such expansions is a critical component of my mandate.”
Jones also highlighted Mercury’s dedication to providing high-quality insurance and supporting loss mitigation efforts, particularly for homeowners in California facing wildfire risk.
He said: “Mercury has set itself apart in the industry by committing to provide high quality insurance and to facilitate wildfire and other loss mitigation for California homeowners and beyond. I’m truly proud to join Mercury for good”
Before his long tenure at Aon, Jones served as an Account executive for Magna Bank.
