Swiss Re’s Li joins NormanMax Insurance Solutions to lead Climate & Alternative Risk

Yong Li has joined NormanMax Insurance Solutions, a Lloyd’s coverholder and parametric re/insurance solutions provider, as President, Climate & Alternative Risk Solutions.

With over two decades of experience, Li is a seasoned expert in commodity trading and investment. His background includes asset optimisation, risk management and business development across a wide range of markets, such as crude oil, natural gas, electric power, metals and agricultural products.

His express also extends to catastrophe risk modelling and pricing, portfolio management of derivative and insurance products.

Li is joining the company following a 12-year tenure at Swiss Re, where he most recently served as Head Portfolio Steering, Weather & Energy.

Throughout his career at Swiss Re, he also served as Portfolio Manager, Weather & Energy; as well as Expert Quantitative Modelling, and Consultant.

Prior to Swiss Re, Li served as Managing Director, Commodities at PartnerRe, a role he held for two years following his tenure at ACA Group as Catastrophe Risk Portfolio Manager.

The executive’s career has also seen him hold roles at companies such as NICO Holdings, Galileo Weather Risk Management, BP, Progress Energy, Williams Energy, and NASA.
