State Fund launches utilization review technology

California workers compensation insurer State Fund will be introducing new utilization review technology to speed up the approval process for UR requests.

UR Connected, developed in partnership with Cedar Hill, Texas-based Conexia Inc., will provide physicians in California with real-time approvals of treatment recommendations, which the Pleasanton, California-based State Fund said in an announcement Tuesday will help physicians treat injured workers faster and more effectively.

The UR technology is slated to launch this summer and will have a web-based portal to allow medical providers to connect with State Fund in real time.
