HDI Global Insurance Company (HGIC), the US arm of international Corporate & Specialty insurer HDI Global (HDI), has appointed Bruce Griffin as Head of Casualty.
Griffin brings over 30 years of underwriting and leadership experience. Most recently, he was Chief Underwriting Officer for US Casualty at Everest Insurance, where he played a key role in establishing and growing its excess casualty division. He will now report to Marco Hensel, Chief Underwriting Officer of HGIC.
In his new role, Griffin will lead HGIC’s casualty segment, overseeing strategy, underwriting, portfolio oversight, and product development. His responsibilities cover both primary and excess casualty, with a focus on disciplined underwriting, profitable expansion, and alignment with HGIC’s broader market strategy.
Hensel commented: “Bruce is an accomplished industry leader. His ability to build robust teams across major geographic and industry sectors, combined with his global distribution network, make him the ideal choice to lead the ongoing transformation of our US casualty portfolio. I look forward to working with him as we continue to deliver on providing specialised insurance solutions and exceptional service to our business partners across the region.”
Griffin, who will be based out of HGIC’s headquarters in Chicago, IL, added: “It’s an exciting time to join HDI, as we continue to advance our domestic footprint. With the experience and underwriting acumen of the team, combined with HDI’s international network, I look forward to leading initiatives that meet the requirements of our clients and solidifying our name in the casualty space by fostering new and existing long-term partnerships.”
