Aon names Cayman leader to replace departing Thomas

Aon PLC on Thursday named Howard Byrne head of its Cayman Islands captive and broking operations, replacing Melissa Thomas, who is leaving the firm. 

Mr. Byrne, who is currently director and chief commercial officer of Aon Cayman, will be managing director of Aon Insurance Managers (Cayman) Ltd. and Aon Risk Services (Cayman) Ltd., effective July 1. 

Ms. Thomas, who was named managing director of Aon Cayman last year, is leaving “to pursue a new opportunity,” Aon said in a statement. 

In the statement, Mr. Byrne said: “We wish Mel all the best in her new role as a professional director and look forward to collaborating with her moving forward.” 

Aon did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
