Singapore Re secures reinsurance branch license to operate as IIO in India’s GIFT City

Singapore Reinsurance Corporation Ltd (Singapore Re) has secured a reinsurance branch license from the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) to operate as an IFSC Insurance Office (IIO) in Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City).

Singapore Re provides Treaty and Facultative reinsurance solutions across property, energy, marine, upstream, equipment, casualty, agriculture, credit, surety, personal accident, medical, and motor business in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East.

The company is rated “A” (Excellent) and is fully part of the Fairfax group of companies.

This license authorises Singapore Re to underwrite Property & Casualty reinsurance as a Category–2 reinsurer under the Order of Preference framework, further expanding its capabilities.

The IIO enhances Singapore Re’s reach in the Indian market, enabling it to better serve clients with an onshore presence and reaffirming its commitment to deepening its footprint in the region.
