Markel appoints Jasminder Kaur as Country Head – Malaysia

Markel Insurance, the insurance arm of Markel Group Inc., has announced the appointment of Jasminder Kaur as Country Head – Malaysia.

Kaur will report to Kevin Leung, Chief Underwriting Officer – Asia Pacific at Markel.

In her new role, she will be responsible for scaling Markel’s operations in Malaysia, marking a significant step in the company’s expansion plans in the region.

She will work closely with the underwriting team in Singapore while establishing and growing Markel’s underwriting capability in Kuala Lumpur.

Kaur brings almost three decades of insurance industry experience, with expertise in risk management and broking. Most recently, she served as CEO of MP Honan—a joint venture between MP Insurance Broker Sdn Bhd and Honan Malaysia—where she played a key role in evolving the local broking firm into an international boutique, driving sales growth and operational excellence.

Prior to that, she spent over eight years at Aon Insurance Brokers Sdn Bhd, holding several leadership positions, including Chief Broking Officer and Head of Financial Specialties.
