Canopius Group names Micia Yong as Head of Property & Specialty Treaty, APAC

Canopius Group, a leading global specialty and P&C re/insurer, has appointed Micia Yong as Head of Property & Specialty Treaty Asia Pacific (APAC), effective July 4th, 2025.
She will be based in Singapore and report directly to Soon Keen (SK) Lee, Chief Executive Officer of APAC and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
This appointment aligns with Canopius’ ongoing investment in strengthening its underwriting leadership and expanding its presence across the APAC region.
In her new role, Yong will lead Canopius’ Property & Specialty Treaty portfolio across APAC, focusing on enhancing the firm’s reinsurance capabilities and delivering innovative solutions to clients.
Yong has over 16 years of reinsurance underwriting and broking experience in the region. Most recently, serving at reinsurance broker Gallagher Re Singapore, as Executive Director for Strategic Solutions, APAC. In the role, Young led key initiatives in retrocession broking, MGA development and structured solutions, demonstrating a sharp commercial focus and a commitment to delivering bespoke reinsurance strategies.
In recognition of Micia’s industry impact and the calibre of her work across the region, she was named Lloyd’s Treaty Broker of the Year in 2023. Before Gallagher Re, Yong held senior underwriting roles at Munich Re and Axis Specialty, having previously gained valuable broking experience at Guy Carpenter.
