John Neal appointed President of AIG

Global insurer American International Group, Inc. (AIG) has announced the appointment of former Lloyd’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), John Neal, as its new President, effective December 1st, 2025.

In the role, Neal will report to Peter Zaffino, AIG’s Chairman and CEO, and will lead the company’s General Insurance businesses as a member of AIG’s Executive Leadership team.

Neal served as CEO of Lloyd’s, the specialist insurance and reinsurance marketplace, from October 2018 to January 2025, playing a key role in the market’s turnaround.

Previously, Neal served at QBE as Group CEO, and also as the insurer’s Chief Underwriting Officer and Chief Operations Officer for its European operations.

“I have known John for more than 20 years, and he is widely recognized as one of the most accomplished insurance executives in the industry. His appointment adds significant depth, global underwriting experience, and talent to our leadership team. I am confident that John will continue to enhance our culture of underwriting excellence. It was announced in January 2025 that Neal was leaving Lloyd’s to join broking giant Aon to lead its reinsurance operations, but the executive has now accepted this role with AIG.
