Samsung Re appoints Sie Liang Lau as Head of Cyber and Casualty

Samsung Reinsurance (Samsung Re), a subsidiary of Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance (SFMI), has appointed Sie Liang Lau as Head of Cyber and Casualty, effective June 23rd, 2025.

Based in Singapore, Lau will lead the development of Samsung Re’s Cyber and Casualty portfolios across Asia Pacific and the Middle East & North Africa. He will also support SFMI’s broader global ambitions in cyber insurance.

In his global remit, Lau will work closely with SFMI to design and implement a forward-looking cyber insurance strategy, positioning Samsung Re as a competitive player in the fast-evolving global cyber risk landscape.

Lau brings 20 years of insurance industry experience to the role. He joins Samsung Re from Gallagher Re, where he most recently served as Head of Cyber, APAC.

Prior to that, he spent 12 years at SCOR in various senior roles, most recently as Head of Lloyd’s Capital Provision & Cyber, UK & London Market.

He began his career as a Syndicate Actuary at Sagicor General Insurance Inc.
