Consilium, the global specialty re/insurance broking business of the Aventum Group, has expanded its Cedant Facultative Risk Solutions team with the launch of a new Singapore office, subject to regulatory approval.
The Singapore office’s development will be led by Rob Drysdale as Chief Executive Officer of Consilium Cedant Fac Asia. He will report into London, and will join following his notice period from Descartes where he was Head of Southeast Asia.
He brings with him nearly two decades of facultative expertise across the Asia Pacific, having served as Divisional Director at Howden Specialty and a seven-year tenure at WTW, where he served as Divisional Director, Global Fac Asia.
The launch aims to propel Consilium’s reach across Asia Pacific, delivering specialist reinsurance solutions to cedants with agility and expertise.
The Singapore office will initially be focused on property, power, and energy facultative reinsurance classes.
Simultaneously, the broker has expanded its team with senior facultative professionals in London. Paul Hargis joins the Cedant Facultative Risk Solutions team as Senior Partner, following his notice period from reinsurance broker, Guy Carpenter.
He brings 25 years of facultative experience, and was most recently the Managing Director and Head of Facultative International Property & Natural Resources at Guy Carpenter. Hargis has also held senior roles at WTW and Aon.
Clare Payne has been appointed Partner in the Cedant Facultative Risk Solutions London team, to expand support for cedants into casualty placements. Most recently, she served at Gallagher as the Placement Director in the major risk practice.
Payne has 23 years of broking experience with leading brokers including Heath Lambert, Willis and Aon, as expertise spans environmental, product recall, construction, and terrorism risks across Lloyd’s and the London markets. Her appointment aims to utilise her vast network and experience to help drive Consilium’s expansion into both multinational and local reinsurance Casualty placements.
Ross Beeden, Consilium Cedant Facultative, commented, “We are building a truly global Cedant Facultative Risk Solutions offering, that offers cedants and local brokers around the world a consistent, high quality and independent alternative.
“The opening of our Singapore office gives clients in the region a single, seamless access point to both the London and Singapore markets. We’re delivering independent, specialised advice meaning fast, agile access to FAC reinsurance solutions across a wide range of specialty classes.”
Simon Richardson, Consilium Cedant Facultative, added, “Singapore has always been part of our strategic vision – but we’ve waited for the right leadership to make it happen. Rob, Paul, and Clare, are exciting and strategic additions to our team; they each bring specialist knowledge and relationships across key geographies and classes that will help us redefine what clients worldwide can expect from a reinsurance broker. We’re delighted to welcome them on board.”
