AXA XL appoints Sylvain Bouteillé as CUO for Specialty Americas

AXA XL, the property and casualty (P&C) and specialty risk division of global insurer AXA, has announced the appointment of Sylvain Bouteillé as Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) for Specialty Americas.
Based in New York, Bouteillé will report to Donna Nadeau, Head of Large Commercial, Americas.
In this role, he will oversee the development and execution of AXA XL’s regional strategy for its Specialty insurance division, which includes Aviation, Ocean Marine, Political Risk, Trade Credit & Commercial Bonds, War, Terrorism & Political Violence, Fine Art & Specie, and Structured Risk Solutions.
He will collaborate closely with local underwriting teams and business partners to deliver customer-centric solutions across all specialty lines.
Bouteillé brings 30 years of re/insurance experience, with a strong focus on credit risk, multinational programs, and strategic leadership across the US, Japan, Switzerland, and France.
He joins AXA XL from AIG, where he served as Head of Trade Credit for the Americas for the past four years.
Previously, he spent over two decades at Swiss Re in various senior roles, most recently as Managing Director, Global Co-Head P&C International Programs at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions.
