Markel names Wanshi Lin Head of Singapore

Global specialty insurer Markel has announced the appointment of Wanshi Lin to the newly created Head of Singapore position, effective immediately.

In her new role, Lin will lead the underwriting team in Singapore and drive business planning and market engagement on the company’s Lloyd’s Singapore platform.

Her appointment to this newly created leadership role in Singapore underscores Markel’s commitment to expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific region, the insurer noted.

Lin will be reporting to Christian Stobbs, Managing Director – Asia Pacific, who commented: “I’m thrilled about the energy and innovative ideas Wanshi will bring to this pivotal role. Singapore is our largest marketplace in the region for specialty products, and I’m confident that, under her leadership, we’ll further enhance our relationships with brokers and clients while building on the strong momentum achieved in recent years.”

Her extensive experience, strategic insight and understanding of the Singapore market will be instrumental in strengthening our commitment to providing underwriting excellence to this important regional hub.”

Lin has been part of Markel since 2018, when she joined the company as an Assistant Underwriter – Marine, becoming a Senior Underwriter – Marine in 2023 before being promoted to her new position.

Prior to Markel, the executive was Assistant Vice President at Marsh Singapore, a role she held for seven years.
