AXA XL announces several promotions within UK & Lloyd’s Marine team

AXA XL, the property and casualty (P&C) and specialty risk division of global insurer AXA, has announced several promotions on its UK & Lloyd’s Marine team, including Matthew Gysbers’ as Underwriting Manager.

In his new role, Gysbers will manage the Marine Hull and War portfolio, UK & Lloyd’s, whilst maintaining a frontline underwriting presence.

James Thorne, who has been part of AXA since 2017, has been promoted to Senior Underwriter, Marine Hull and War, UK & Lloyd’s.

In his new role, he will be applying his extensive market and industry knowledge to the continued development of our Marine Hull and War portfolio.

Jack Gallop was promoted to Senior Underwriter, Marine Cargo, UK & Lloyd’s, playing a key role identifying market trends, new business opportunities, and ensuring the portfolio remains profitable.

Gallop has been with AXA for ten years, following his two-year tenure at Chubb and over a year with Marsh.

AXA XL also announced the promotion of Annabelle Towler to Underwriter, Marine Hull, UK & Lloyd’s. In this position, she will be involved in writing new hull and war risks, and will support the team with underwriting to both new and existing clients.

Towler has worked at AXA XL for close to four years. She joined the company in 2021 following her close to two years at Hiscox.
