Specialty MGA UK strengthens construction team with Senior Underwriter appointment

Specialty MGA UK, a managing general agent focused on providing additional capacity for specialty lines, has expanded its construction team with the appointment of Sam Hui as Senior Underwriter for Onshore Construction and Energy.
Hui is a highly experienced insurance and reinsurance professional with over 30 years in construction and energy underwriting, having started his career in marine insurance.
Well regarded in the international market, he previously worked at Advent Syndicate 780, where he built a strong track record of supporting clients worldwide. He brings with him an extensive global network of brokers, insurers, and agents.
Commenting on the new appointment, Group Chairman, Manoj Kumar added: “With the construction sector on track for sustained growth in 2025, I am delighted to be adding Sam to our team.
“Sam brings extensive experience of these international markets as well as deep technical expertise, greatly benefiting our MGA as we continue our expansion and growth in this important line of business.”
In his new role, Hui will oversee onshore construction, including single projects and annual facilities for Owners, Project Sponsors, and Contractors, while also providing coverage for Machinery Breakdown and Mining Plant and Equipment.
Additionally, he will manage the Upstream Energy account, contributing to the expansion of Specialty MGA UK’s energy portfolio as the company continues to attract new business and increase capacity for clients.
