US life insurer Pacific Life has announced the promotion of Karen Neeley to Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Institutional Retirement Solutions Group and Patricia Thompson to SVP and Chief Compliance and Ethics Officer.
In her new role, Neeley, who has nearly two decades in financial services experience, will oversee the management and growth of the pension risk transfer (PRT) and defined contribution lifetime (DCLI) businesses.
This also includes responsibility for distribution, product development, operations, and customer engagement.
Neeley joined Pacific Life in 2023 as vice president, tasked with building a high-performing sales team to increase market share in Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) and Deferred Corporate-Owned Life Insurance (DCOLI).
In 2024, her responsibilities expanded to include operations, with an emphasis on scaling capabilities.
Her leadership resulted in Pacific Life’s largest PRT transaction to date and established a strong presence in the DCOLI market, significantly raising the company’s profile, the company highlighted.
Neeley was also recently elected to the executive committee of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA) and serves as vice chair of the Retirement Income Committee.
As SVP, chief compliance and ethics officer, Thompson will oversee all compliance, ethics, and privacy activities across the enterprise, including the maintenance and oversight of the Code of Conduct, ethics helpline, and ensuring alignment with international data privacy laws and regulations.
The executive has been with Pacific Life since 2014. After serving in various roles she was promoted to chief compliance officer in 2022, where she was instrumental in scaling and elevating compliance and ethics support across all Pacific Life businesses, the company stated.
Her work enabled Pacific Life to meet consumer and regulatory expectations consistently and effectively.
Thompson also serves as co-leader of the Legal & Compliance Section of the American Council of Life Insurers, the life insurance industry’s principal trade association.
