Steven Hearn becomes Brown & Brown COO

Steven Hearn, a veteran in the insurance and reinsurance industry, has started a new position as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at insurance brokerage firm Brown & Brown.

Hearn joined the firm in 2024 as a Director following his tenure as Chief Executive Officer at Inver Re, the Ardonagh Group’s dedicated reinsurance broking unit, a role he held from November 2021 until July 2024.

In connection with this appointment as Brown & Brown’s VP & COO, Hearn has resigned from the company’s board of directors and will join the operating committee.

The executive will leverage his 35 years of experience in the insurance industry to help inform and guide Brown & Brown’s continued growth strategy.

Prior to his time and Inver Re, Hearn was the Chief Executive Officer for Ardonagh Capital Solutions Holdings, The Ardonagh Group’s holding company for its reinsurance broking, captives and MGA businesses, from November September 2022 until July 2024.

Before that, he served as Director of Ardonagh International. Hearn had joined the company in 2021 as Chief Executive Officer of Ardonagh Specialty Holdings Limited, a role he held until September 2022.

Prior to his time at The Ardonagh Group, Hearn served as Chief Executive Officer of Corant Global, a subsidiary of BGC Partners, Inc. (BGC), from February 2019 until the sale of BGC’s insurance brokerage division to The Ardonagh Group in November 2021.

From 2015 until its acquisition by BGC in February 2019, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Ed Broking Group Limited.

Hearn has also held roles with Willis Group Holdings plc and its businesses, including Willis Re and Willis Limited. Through his career, he has also held senior leadership positions with Hilb, Rogal & Hobbs; Glencairn Limited; Marsh Affinity Europe & Middle East; Marsh Affinity UK and Sedgwick Affinity Group Services.

Additionally, the executive currently serves as Non Executive Director at Atrium Underwriters Ltd., and as PPL’s Chairman.
