Tokio Marine Kiln expands expertise in Fine Art and Life Sciences

Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), a global specialty insurer, has strengthened its team with the addition of Jake Burgess as Fine Art and Specie Underwriter and Ella Henderson as Life Sciences Underwriter, enhancing its expertise in two critical growth areas.
Burgess, who brings more than ten years of experience in underwriting and claims, joins TMK from AXA XL, where he was Underwriting Manager for US Specie & West Zone Fine Art.
He previously worked at XL Catlin. In his new role, Burgess will report to Richard Hooks, Head of the Marine and Energy Department.
Henderson, who has six years of experience in both broking and underwriting, previously worked at CFC Underwriting and Superscript, specialising in medical technology (Medtech). She will now focus on Life Sciences and report to Kirsten Shastri, Head of Life Sciences.
These strategic hires reflect TMK’s commitment to expanding its leadership in the Fine Art and Specie, and Life Sciences sectors. TMK offers comprehensive coverage for physical loss or damage risks in Fine Art and Specie, serving clients ranging from private collectors to financial institutions.
Henderson’s arrival follows a period of impressive growth for TMK in Life Sciences, where the company has doubled its portfolio in the past year. The launch of the innovative IntelliMed product in 2023 has further solidified TMK’s reputation for offering tailored coverage to both established Life Sciences companies and emerging niche sectors.
