AXA XL has launched the Sustainable Building Practices Adoption Maturity Index (SAMI), a benchmarking service designed to help construction clients in North America assess their sustainable building practices against industry peers.
Cheri Hanes, AXA XL’s Head of Construction Innovation and Sustainability, said, “Technological advancements, economic incentives and the need for more resiliency are driving the demand for more sustainable buildings and our construction clients are searching for the best ways to meet these demands.
“Benchmarking is an important tool for contractors because it allows them to compare their performance, practices, and results against industry standards and best practices. This helps them stay competitive, enhance efficiency, and ultimately improve their overall performance in the industry.”
Hanes added, “In their quest to adopt more sustainable building practices, our SAMI benchmarking can provide valuable insight to help our construction clients identify areas for improvement, set realistic goals, and measure their progress over time.
“Through available services like SAMI, we are committed to supporting our customers’ knowledge and adoption of sustainable building practices.”
The SAMI assessment evaluates construction firms based on their implementation of sustainable building practices, focusing on areas within builders’ control, including carbon, health and wellness, waste management, water management, and materials.
After the assessment, firms receive a personalised report with an overall SAMI score and individual category scores. The report compares a contractor’s sustainable building practices adoption against industry trends and a selected group of peers.
Year after year, SAMI provides a roadmap for advancing sustainable practices, tracking progress over time to help clients stay at the forefront of construction sustainability.
