Navigators & General to be acquired by Geo Underwriting

Geo Underwriting, a division of Ardonagh Advisory that offers diverse insurance solutions, plans to acquire Navigators & General (N&G), a marine insurance provider, from Zurich UK.

Established in 1921 by Captain William Coombs, a WWI Veteran and Merchant Navy officer.

N&G provides insurance coverage for a range of boats and vessels, as well as for commercial marine activities such as marinas, boat builders, and hire fleets.

The company also has an extensive distribution network that serves both individual customers and intermediaries.

Jaime Swindle, CEO of Geo Underwriting, added: “Navigators & General is a hugely successful brand with a rich heritage. The business will highly complement our Marine specialism and expand our product and proposition to new and existing customers.”

Swindle continued: “We’re looking forward to welcoming the expert team in Navigators & General and together seizing the opportunities ahead of us.”

The deal is anticipated to close in the second half of 2024. Following the acquisition, N&G’s specialised team in Brighton will integrate with Geo Underwriting.The existing business will retain the Navigators & General name and will work alongside Geo Marine.
