Wisconsin Insurance Commissioner Mark Afable will leave his position next month, the Wisconsin Governor’s Office said Wednesday in a statement.
Deputy Insurance Commissioner Nathan Houdek, appointed to his current position by Mr. Afable in January 2019, will serve as interim commissioner following Mr. Afable’s departure.
Gov. Tony Evers appointed Mr. Afable as commissioner in December 2018. Prior to that, he had worked for American Family Insurance since 1994, the statement said.
Gov. Evers called Mr. Afable “a great advocate for consumers while supporting a strong and competitive insurance market.”
