Canopius hires former Swiss Re unit CFO

Insurer and reinsurer Canopius Group Ltd. said Tuesday that former Swiss Re Ltd. Greg Alcazar had assumed the position of chief financial officer, U.S. operations, effective Dec. 20.
Mr. Alcazar will lead Canopius USA’s finance and actuarial team, the statement said.
He was most recently chief financial officer and senior vice president for elipsLife AG, a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss Re.
Lisa Davis, Canopius USA president and chief underwriter, said in the statement that as “Canopius USA is ramping up with new hires, new capacity and a growing business.”
Canopius Group announced in November a new agreement with Samsung Fire and Marine Insurance to underwrite U.S. admitted business on SFMI paper.
