Acrisure buys Appalachian Underwriters

Acrisure LLC said Tuesday it has acquired managing general agency and wholesaler Appalachian Underwriters, based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Acrisure, a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based fintech company that provides workers compensation insurance, said Appalachian places more than $400 million of gross written premium.

Appalachian’s core business includes workers compensation, commercial specialty,  personal lines and transactional wholesale. Its programs and underwriting facilities are distributed on a national basis and supported by domestic insurers and Lloyd’s of London, Acrisure said in a statement.

Acrisure said last month it had acquired the managing general agency and third-party administrator operations of Bradenton, Florida-based SUNZ Insurance Co.
