Aspen appoints Peter Spires as Group Head of Compliance & Deputy Group General Counsel

Aspen, a specialty insurance and reinsurance company, has recently announced the appointment of Peter Spires as Group Head of Compliance & Deputy Group General Counsel.

In his new role, Spires will report directly to David Amaro, Group General Counsel at Aspen.

Amaro expressed enthusiasm for Spires’ appointment, stating, “I’m thrilled that Peter has joined Aspen. His expertise and senior leadership experience will be invaluable in leading our Compliance function and supporting our Group Legal capabilities, as we continue to strengthen our global compliance and corporate governance frameworks and processes and enable the business in meeting its objectives. Spires brings a wealth of experience in the insurance industry, including expertise in business development within the Lloyd’s market, developing and driving change management and strategic programmes, crisis management, establishing insurance companies, improving underwriting performance, among others.

Prior to joining Aspen, Spires most recently served as General Counsel at Lloyd’s and Secretary to the Council of Lloyd’s, and held several other senior roles at Lloyd’s and Lloyd’s Brussels.
