Canada Life Re hires Maguire as P&C expansion continues

Canada Life Reinsurance has announced the appointment of David Maguire as Underwriting Director P&C.
Maguire’s appointment comes as Canada Life Re, known for its life and annuity reinsurance offering, is increasingly looking to add greater diversity to its portfolio with Property & Casualty lines of business.
Gabriel Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, London Life and Casualty (Barbados) Corporation, said: “We are delighted to welcome David Maguire to our P&C team at Canada Life Re.
“David has a wealth of knowledge and experience in our business and his strong relationships with clients and brokers positions us very well as we continue to develop and grow our Property & Casualty business.”
Maguire is a seasoned reinsurance and insurance executive with over two decades in the industry. Prior to joining Canada Life Re, he served as Senior Manager at NewRe (part of Munich Re), a role held since 2014.
Before NewRe, the executive was part of Greenlight Re, where he worked as a General Manager Lead Underwriter for three years.
Through his career, Maguire has also held roles with Travelers Insurance, Hannover Re, QBE/LIMIT Underwriting Agency, Syndicate 1173, Aon and Lloyd’s.
