McGill and Partners hires Nick Williams-Walker as Group Chief Operating Officer

Insurance and reinsurance broker McGill and Partners has appointed Nick Williams-Walker as the Group Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective September 23rd, 2024.

Williams-Walker succeeds Stephen Cross, who has been the firm’s acting Group COO since January 2022.

Stephen Cross, one of the co-founders of McGill and Partners, will continue to serve in his role as Head of Strategy and Innovation, focusing on strategy, innovation, talent acquisition, and brand and marketing. Additionally, he retains the responsibility to maintain the European market.

Williams-Walker has expertise in the specialty intermediary space and leverages his experience of optimising client service, innovation and leveraging gains, and efficiencies from technology cumulated over the years.

Williams-Walker joins the broker from Gallagher where he has been COO of Alesco and Gallagher Specialty for five years.

Before this, he served at JLT as COO of JLT Specialty for almost eight years.

Williams-Walker was formerly at Aon for over 13 years and held senior operationally focused leadership roles including an extended period in India overseeing the establishment of the Aon operations in the country.

He also serves as the Chair of the Technical Group of the London Market Group’s Data Council.
