Liberty Mutual Re hires Manja Kollmann from Generali Germany as COO

Liberty Mutual Reinsurance (LM Re), the reinsurance arm of Boston headquartered Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has hired Manja Kollmann from Generali Germany as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO), based in London.

In her new role, Kollmann has a dual reporting line to Sue Figueredo Cook, COO, Global Risk Solutions (GRS), Liberty Mutual, and Dieter Winkel, President of LM Re, and will also sit on the executive teams of both GRS and LM Re.

She brings over 15 years of insurance and reinsurance sector experience to the firm, with a track record of driving both business transformation and operational efficiency.

Kollmann joins LM Re from Generali Germany, where she served as Director, Head of IT Transformation. Prior to this, she held various senior roles at global insurer Allianz, and also spent more than six years with Munich Re, and almost two years with Swiss Re.

LM Re expects Kollmann to be a “key influencer” as the company continues its commitment to providing tailored, client-focused reinsurance solutions across key markets. The reinsurer describes the addition of Kollmann as a critical step in its broader strategy to enhance its global capabilities and deliver superior value to its clients.

Kollmann will work closely with Kirk Maddern, interim COO, to ensure a seamless transition prior to his retirement at the end of the year.
