wefox hires Joachim Müller from Allianz as CEO, Mark Hartigan to continue as Chairman

Insurtech wefox Holding AG has appointed Joachim Müller as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately, while Mark Hartigan, who has served as both Chairman of the Board and interim CEO during the recent restructuring, will continue as Chairman.

These appointments come at a crucial time for wefox, as it transitions into a new phase of profitable growth.

Müller is a retail and commercial insurance industry veteran with deep expertise in business transformation and digitalization in multinational markets.

Previously, he has served as the CEO for Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE and Allianz Commercial. In the role, Müller was responsible for bringing together Allianz’s Commercial insurance businesses under one global model.

Before that, he was also the CEO of Allianz Versicherungs-AG, the Property & Casualty arm of Allianz Germany and Allianz ABV (Allianz Beratungs- und Vertriebs-AG, the sales company of Allianz Germany).

Hartigan, as interim CEO, executed important business changes and under his executive leadership wefox successfully streamlined its operations, and made key strategic decisions to focus on core businesses that promise long-term value and sustainability.

In a statement, the insurtech affirmed that Hartigan will further support its own carrier wefox Insurance AG where the firm remains fully committed to all its regulatory duties.
