QBE nominates Mario Díaz-Guardamino as next MD for QBE Iberia

QBE, the business insurer, has named Mario Díaz-Guardamino as the next Managing Director for QBE Iberia.

In his new role, Díaz-Guardamino will oversee QBE’s operations in Spain, leading teams in the Madrid and Barcelona offices.

His responsibilities include focusing on profitable growth by driving expertise, service delivery, and strong relationships with brokers and customers across Corporate and Middle Market business, multinational programmes, construction, and sustainable energies.

Pending regulatory approval, the appointment is expected to be effective by the end of 2024, with a reporting line to Beatriz Valenti, Director of Insurance, QBE Europe.

Díaz-Guardamino has over two decades of insurance experience, with expertise across specialty underwriting, business development, broker and customer distribution strategy.

He started his career as a broker before progressing to credit lines underwriting at AIG Spain, eventually becoming Head of EMEA Trade Credit Insurance.
